Past Continuous

الماضي المستمر

استخدم was أو were مع الفعل مضافًا إليه ing لوصف حدث كان مستمرًا في وقت ماضٍ، واربطه بحدث قصير باستخدام when.Use was or were with verb-ing for an action in progress in the past, and connect it to a short action with when.

01 — افهم القاعدةUNDERSTAND

القاعدة The rule, ببساطة.simply.

Positive • الإثبات

نستخدم was مع I وhe وshe وit والاسم المفرد، وwere مع you وwe وthey، ثم الفعل مع ing.

I/He/She/It was + verb-ing • You/We/They were + verb-ing↳ I was studying at eight.↳ They were playing outside.

Negative • النفي

نضع not بعد was أو were. ويمكن استخدام wasn't وweren't، ثم يأتي الفعل مع ing.

was not / wasn't + verb-ing • were not / weren't + verb-ing↳ Mona wasn't sleeping.↳ We weren't waiting.

Questions & answers • السؤال والجواب

نقدّم Was أو Were على الفاعل. في الجواب القصير نكرر was أو were.

Was he + verb-ing? • Were they + verb-ing? • Yes, he was. • No, they weren't.↳ Was Ali working?↳ Were you listening?↳ Yes, I was.

When • عندما

نستخدم الماضي المستمر للحدث الذي كان جاريًا، وبعد when نذكر غالبًا الحدث القصير بالماضي البسيط.

Past continuous + when + past simple↳ I was walking when it started to rain.↳ She was cooking when the phone rang.
